MY BROTHER – AYOB! 13th November 2009 – 5.10pm
Ayob, my eldest brother, a leader and the most loved ones in the family have passed away that afternoon i.e. 5.10pm at Ipoh General Hospital. He left his 6 children and his wife for 25 years.
I know almost every inch of his lifestyle, passion, capability, attitude, sincerity and truthfulness. Great dad, great cook, great leader and love his children and his siblings very much indeed. Never heard of him lying and always tell the truth no matter how big is the problem to all his siblings and off course as the eldest he has full power to dictate.
I remember me & G (my bro) always trying to avoid him/or not to let him know all the shit we are facing. If facing any difficulties, we do our best to settle it by ourselves (We, the nasty boys) or if Ayob knows our activities…meaning doom day for us… hehehehe. Well, as long as I can remember and I bet G (my bro) will agree with me on this….Ayob never lay a single hand/or kick our butts since our younger days till adulthood (although we did giving hell of problem).
If he is angry he will just give his instruction on whatever cause of action and we just follow else if he piss-off he might kill us hehehehe!…So any problem we’re facing, we try not to bring it to him and make sure he will be the last to know. Fuhh Ayob..Ayob…Ayob! A great brother!
Whenever I met Ayob, he remind me of my dad…his face, his attitude, the way he talk, the way he listen…so much so like my dad. He is a great cook indeed, he love to do all sort of cooking for his siblings and family member. He is a detail type and perfectionist I presume…always want everything in order before he do the cooking job and always want to do it by himself without other people helping him.
Reason, he don’t trust others can do what he can and he will not feel comfortable if he delegate the job to others and afraid the job will be coming back to him hehehe. So he will do everything by himself (So that how perfection he wanna be) and damn.. he’s not a good manager hehehe!.
When he cook, he always being creative and try to create or improvise any recipes and the result is tremendous and I bet, that is what happen when he cook with creativity and sincerity.
I remember on that day in the hospital, so many crowds i.e. more than 200-300 people, the hospital ward is congested and the doctor/nurses requested the attendees to evacuate the place and give more space to them to do their work. I guess the crowds visiting him just wanna pay respect for his generosity, truthfulness and also due to his strong ties with the communities, friends and family.
Manage to spend time for about 3 hours with him and my family in that hospital; he is incautious state until end of his life. I saw all the siblings and his family crying and letting him go peacefully. My youngest bro, Az coming late in that afternoon (he did not witness the occasion) and he is the last to kiss Ayob before they shifted him to another place.
When I saw Az, his tearing eyes showing how much he love his brother. Yupp!!! I’m touch with that moment.
Ayob is one of the example…He has a decent job in BOMBA Ipoh (Fire & Rescue Dept) at the same time he and his family manage a small retail business (Manage by his wife & daughter “Along”) i.e. selling bakery stuffs, breads & muffins (Roti) to coffee shop, restoran, school canteen, bridal places, resort.
He used his van to deliver all sorts of bakery product to these places and manage to have strong ties of relationship with his customers. I saw honest, respect, politeness, caring is his key of success. The “KIFAYAH” in Muslim world is purely practice in his day to day life. With the never ending crowd, as what my dad did say before, you can see how great that man is if huge crowd attended his funeral day. Yupp!!!...AYOB you are a great man indeed.
The next day i.e. 14th November 2009, 11 am, funeral day, hugh crowd, Kampung People, his customers i.e. Indian, Chinese, Malay..just name it. Everybody come to pay the last respect…..hmmh I told myself, you don’t need to be Michael Jackson, Ayob just being himself all the way.
As your brother, not to worry about your family, I’ll fulfill my responsibility and commitment towards your family, enjoy your life there and send my regards to our beloved dad and our ancestors before us. Peace be upon you my bro! Love you always!
Note:
To all my siblings, we have ten before and now its nine left!.........Again it’s a beautiful nature and cycle of life.
