MEMORY LANE – Part 2

One of the most memorable is the Jalan Lam Looking, or local people call it “belakang loken”. This place is full of cheap stuff, car boot sale, small hut/stall selling all sort of nonsense…hehehe I mean you can find car spareparts here, antique furniture, germ stone, old lamp, crack mug, dirty shoes, junk t-shirts, old newspaper, beggar everywhere…old frame…you just name it…heheheh! Manage to buy pair of adidas - find it tho at that place.

Ohh yeah don’t forget to dropby at Jubilee Park, It has been there more than 50 years I think. An old amusement centre /or low class gambling area I presume - damn funny, all the games were outdated yet the old timer still spending their money just to have that same old fun/games/tricks without feeling bored. Gosh, when I look at the people and surroundings, emmh - I do recognize such familiar faces..emmhh they "Growing Old" hehehe.

Ipoh well known cartoonist – Datuk Lat.
Whenever I saw the “Datuk Lat” cartoon books either its “Kampung Boy” or “Town Boy”, its all about Ipoh Town! He manages to transform all his teen memories to cartoon & emphasize more on his upbringing, Malay culture, surroundings, diversity and strong socio comment. His cartoons keep me close to Ipoh Town. Personally, Datuk Lat is the best Socio Comment Artist in Malaysia, great fighter in providing a definite message about true Malaysian and unity concept. I admire him and his thought!
Well enough about Datuk Lat.

Ipoh now – New Urban City being develop - “Kinta City” located more than 10/15km from the current Old Town. Being in millennium year, I do believe Ipoh need to be developed and modernize in order to make it more competitive to investors. I do believe the local government has done something towards that…..hope so!
Most of the Tin Mine now has been close and covered with sand, they develop housing estates and new township hmmh…inline with the increase of population I guess.

OK will continue later….need to go now!

MEMORY LANE – Part 1

Ipoh - my home town is quite a dale place but lovely. Previous colonial authority/ administration has developed Ipoh & Taiping as their main administration centre throughout Peninsular Malaysia. The major revenue during that time is Tin Mine (Kinta Valley) and Rubber Estate. In fact the earliest rubber trees is planted somewhere in Kuala Kangsar and the ceremony is done by Sir HN Ridley (The 1st Rubber Scientist).

Several beautiful places - Old town hall, High Court, Ipoh old town, Ipoh Club, the FMS Bar...just name it - colonial spot & buildings almost everywhere. Beside the old Anderson Building, St Michael is so damn beautiful too.

St. Micheal / Michaelean!
I remember at the centre of that front building, of Old St Micheal’s – Bronze Sculpture of “Madonna & Child” or maybe “The Mother, Child & Holy Ghost” (Just cannot remember the name) so damn unique and beautiful, I remember myself during the school assemblies at the field facing the parlor, we did hanging around at that parlor (Where the sculpture stand) during lunch break.

Several more great architecture work left by the colonial at that building & school chapel.

Deep in my heart I wish that town maintain without any development, I consider it as world heritage and hoping the government preserve this building as the way it is.

I’ll bring my child when we balik kampong & remind them to visit all the beautiful places, this is the place where their father and forefathers were born and brought up. I’ll tell them how harmony of the people living together irrespective of race and background. I’ve several friends i.e. Sikh, Chinese, Indian, Malays, Natives, Portuguese, European and several more unidentified races living in harmony at that same Old St Michael School with spirit of unity. With attention to be above all or no. 1 in all event/sports they participated. The school has selected several teams irrespective of races/religion/belief to fight for the school, united against all odds and making sure their school always be No. 1 in State of Perak. (Emmh but always be no.3-4 or maybe 7 kut...hehehe)

Games/Sport such as Athletic, hockey, rugby, soccer, cricket, basket ball, fencing, theatre, music and other event that may give opportunity to bring the school name up to national level. The spirit of unity is almost solid and unbreakable, we live in harmony.

I remember Sukan Sekolah (Sport Event) when I saw my brother G (elder than me) whom is a school sprinter of 100m, 200m 4x100, take part in that sport event. I’m damn proud of him during that event, telling everybody & all my friends - “Hey Guys! My Brother, He is the Sprinter & the world fastest” giving him supports like a fool, never end madness & nobody business. Well he lose heheheh!. But I just don’t care & continue saying "the referee is full of shit!" Heheheh.

I’m an active guy too, manage to join the hockey team & rugby, but just for a while, before I jump into casino & marijuana activities..…hehehe. Well….End of the Story lah!

When there is no politics…..there is peace….hehehehe!

SYMBIOSIS - WIKIPEDIA

In Wikipedia - The term symbiosis commonly describes close and often long-term interactions between different biological species. The term was first used in 1879 by the German mycologist Heinrich Anton de Bary, who defined it as "the living together of unlike organisms."

The definition of symbiosis is in flux, and the term has been applied to a wide range of biological interactions. The symbiotic relationship may be categorized as being mutualistic, parasitic, or commensal in nature. Others define it more narrowly, as only those relationships from which both organisms benefit, in which case it would be synonymous with mutualism.

Symbiotic relationships include those associations in which one organism lives on another (ectosymbiosis, such as mistletoe), or where one partner lives inside the other (endosymbiosis, such as lactobacilli and other bacteria in humans or zooxanthelles in corals). Symbiotic relationships may be either obligate, i.e., necessary for the survival of at least one of the organisms involved, or facultative, where the relationship is beneficial but not essential for survival of the organisms

Symbiosis in our society meaning 'Living together for mutual benefit'.

Personal View:

Shea, my daughter did ask me about her race….catchy reaction in my feeling and I do believe this question appear when mix marriage occur hehehe!. (Mix Culture)
Symbiosis subject again!

So I told her since I’m the “Malay” father i.e. “Male” whom given the soul & spirit, she should be regarded as “Malay” while the mother is giving her the skin & physical appearance. She’s just little bit confuse, I’ll elaborate more on this issue once she is more mature and start asking to know more.

Living symbiosis – Barrack H. Obama….(Kenyan “Father” & US White “Mother”).

AUDACITY OF HOPE

I just finish reading an interesting book by Barrack Obama….fuhh I’m wondering he still have time to write huh!!! Quite interesting and informative, straight from his heart, his bold views, sincere towards his job, just being plain and clear, knowing himself and limit as human is very strong fundamental in his life.

With that type of struggle and hard work, being President of the US…nahh no surprise.

Not many people can apply a brief and good write up as well as his and I admire his thought and sincerity. He's putting himself as a father, husband, leader and normal human being living in multicultural society and world today i.e. He really knows where he stands.

My thumbs up on his book and recommend to readers out there, enjoy reading, its his perception about life, work, personal views and honest experience.

Remarks:
Nahh…oklah….My story is better mahh.

AUTHOR - DAN BROWN

I remember it has been 6 years (2003), Helen Betlem gave me Europe’s best selling novel – Da Vinci Code as a gift. It took me a week to finish it off and so damn enjoying. Dan Brown the author of Da Vinci Code, remind me of an Indonesian most influential academician i.e. Prof Hamka. I read Hamka’s novel i.e. Journey to Deli & Van Der Vick Vessel..its damn great, fuhhh with his (Hamka) thorough details, full of live analysis and exposure make myself/imagination travel inside that book and seeing picture as per what he want us to describe it – although it just a love novel. Great writer / author can give fullest pleasure for readers like me to describe pictures, experience occasion and environment just by producing a powerful wording and beautiful statement.

Thanks to Helen for introducing me to Dan Brown's book...he is a great author indeed! Back to Dan Brown, I foresee he has that strong skills, wide knowledge, frequent traveler and very details in his work – very analytical and sharp minded. He loves to keep his audience guessing, nervous, prejudice mind and keep them running to know more. The ways he describes is so damn real and exist in the real life. He knows how to express his words and statement…it’s very entertaining. Da Vinci Code is being film previously and starred by Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon – Damn entertaining as well.

The book he wrote title “Angel & Demon” – (Now in Cinema near you) I treat it as a continuation of Robert Langdon journey as Prof in Harvard University also starred by Tom Hanks, “Deception Point” & “Digital Fortress” also a never ending entertainment. I recommend all of his books. Its damn strong & great artwork, love it so much.
Two Thumbs Up for Dan Brown! I really enjoy your book man. Thanks to Helen & Hester as well for the gift!

Personal View:
Author/Writer’s can bring you to a different world and create a great feeling once you read the said book or story….I mean the author create that feeling and he want the audience / readers feeling what his trying to express. A strong work will give a huge impact and clear message to the audience. I always treated writers/authors as artists that contribute their knowledge/fantasy/exposure to the community and society. Although there is a good/bad author, same goes to painting/artwork…good/bad painting. Everything goes to how strong the nature of that message/ contribution being express to the public. Everything must according to its rule of nature and SOP.

Book/Models/Drawings/Paintings/Ceramics/Sculpture/Miniature…is just a media of expression by the artist. I describe it as a beautiful freedom of expression also damn creative art work. I admire those great artists/writers/authors.

Emmmh........
