Sorry for not updating this blog, I’m away and busy with daily workload. Try to update more in week to come.
Wanna share some of my xploration note, just came back for Surabaya by the way, modern city and heaven for people who love entertainment. Manage to visit several historical places on that shortest time.
Soero (Fish) & Booeeiiooo (Crocodile), the ancient myth about this place is about when the river life & sea life meet each other (Kuala), the fish not allowing the crocs to cross any of its border and start fighting each other, the fight never end although huge casualties spills everywhere. Same goes to Majapahit Empire when they fight for territory and similar event happen to Surabaya’s nationalist, when they fight Dutch invasion on the same spot…in that Kuala.
Fuhh interesting huh!!! Per capita income is about IDR500K per month which equivalent to RM150.00 monthly. 5-7% of rich and famous living in the heart of the city whiles the balance of homeless and poor scattered everywhere. Well it’s their way of life I guess; too many i.e. average above 30 Millions lives in that city alone – damn crowded. Talking about 5-7% of rich and famous from 30 million fuhh…that’s a lot mann!! No wonder Hypermart everywhere - damn big one. Easily 7 to 8 times KL lifestyle.
Remind myself when I made a trip to Kedah…the paddy field without border, while in Surabaya the view is all about setinggan houses without border. Even my binocular cannot reach the end line. Since time permitted, I manage to visit the PT Semporna Factory, everything is still manual, same practices for more than 60 years and not surprise - manpower damn cheap and available everywhere - It’s the Semporna Town all the way. Their “tji sam soe” cigarette brand flying everywhere. Almost 70% Surabayan smoke this Kretek cigarette and it’s their favorite too.
Did dropby at the Singaporean City of Surabaya – Boulevard for damn rich flers, with big mansion and golfer paradise….…gosh it’s crazy.
Surabaya is more systematic and clean now compare to 7-8 years back. The trishaw and motorist have their own lane and no more kelam kabut. The prostitution activities are hardly seen in the heart of the city. They have been located to a better place called Delta “1 to 5” based on the customer’s need and requirement. Delta 1 is more for low income class, Delta 2-4 will be the middle income and the no. 5 (Dolly – is the nickname for Delta 5) will be slidely higher income than the other delta. As for the rich & famous, they’ll get their 1st class stock at the exclusive pub or club not in this Delta. Hmmh..thats their way of life I guess (Knowing this when I take a cab 1 night and travel with the driver to this sort of places, I bet the local knows better) and manage to see the local scene.
Another event, I walk thru places in the Chinatown and saw this old lady beggar keep following me around age circa 80yrs old, so I stop by & stared at her while asking her politely to move away, she start crying and ask for money….ohh shit, I know if I give her, there will be another group of people chasing me….ohh shit. Emmhh I hate myself walking alone at this sort of places. What to do, just give her the some cash, and thank god nobody looking at us. Start continuing back my journey of side seeing and manage to take up several photos and balik.
The kabupaten/local govt have improve a lot and with the newly build International Airport; I do believe foreigner will be more in the future. It’s cleaner and better system than Jakarta – quite modern city, my thumbs up in terms of cleanliness and systematic.
Personal View:
Everything that is good might be bad, everything that’s bad must have something good. Balance of nature.
